Another Lover

Just in time for that impending New Year identity crisis, an Aussie and a Brit have combined their mutual love of fashion to launch the brilliant new bi-hemisphere e-store concept Anotherlove.com. Featuring a cutting-edge mix of international labels from Carven to Sophie Hulme, the site’s modern edit has been purposefully curated to seasonally compliment the Australian climate, while all purchases are orbed to our doors in no time thanks to free shipping, overnight delivery and free Oz returns. Like we said … Just in time to rethink you from the outside in.
We chat to the co-founders Aussie businesswoman Rochelle Miller and renowned British retail consultant Nadia Jones – and yes, her bro is Kim Jones of Louis Vuitton menswear fame.
Firstly, how did the name come about?
Nadia Jones: Our lists were endless ... But Anotherlove stood out as fashion is ours and most womens' 'another love'.
The site’s selection of international brands is completely seasonally adapted to Australia … Did you feel as a consumer that this was something that was really neglected in the local market?
Rochelle Miller: Yes we definitely felt that the choice of international labels specially selected with the Australian climate and consumer in mind was lacking in Australia - the inverse Southern Hemisphere weather and also our more relaxed lifestyle. I was always going overseas and buying clothes that felt right in Paris, London etc but did not fit into my lifestyle once I was home.
How did you both meet?
Nadia Jones: We met on my first trip to Australia on a boat in the Great Barrier Reef. I offered to take their photograph and that was that. We spent four days on an island chatting while sunbathing and became firm friends. However, it did derail Rochelle's husband from proposing - although I think he has forgiven me now!
How does being based between Queensland and London work for you both?
Nadia Jones: Thanks to technology it is working very well. We spend quality time together on our buying trips, but are in constant touch and have our specific roles within the business.
With brands like Kenzo and Carven already on board, tell us about the ethos behind the buy?
Nadia Jones: We rely on our gut instinct a lot regarding the buying - selecting what we think is really strong, wearable and modern. We want to deliver great choice with our customer's lifestyle completely catered for.
Free shipping, free returns and overnight delivery, that's pretty unheard of for delivery of international brands within Australia, yet it has been always been key to your business plan hasn’t it?
Nadia Jones: Yes definitely, it was very important to us that our customer received her order as fast as possible, could have the luxury of trying it on in her own home and with her own accessories, and then a hassle free return service.
Which labels are you currently obsessed with that we may not know so well?
Nadia Jones: Sheriff and Cherry sunglasses, which have just launched, are stunning, beautifully designed and individual all at a great price point. Emma Cook, an established London designer, but we love her beautiful modern prints in simple easy to wear silhouettes. Sophie Hulme, who designs beautiful leather bags with statement hardware from her studio in London.
