Maestro

Maestro (2003) is a documentary largely exploring the exploits of the original disco dandy Larry Levan and the Paradise Garage during the scene’s development in New York City.
Although slightly tainted by the occasional inclusion of wimpy deep house that was popular at the time of the documentary’s release, Maestro is generally a curious insiders look into the people, the clubs and the music of the time, featuring interviews with some pillars of the community including David Mancuso, Frankie Knuckles, Nicky Siano, Francis Grasso, Tom Moulton and loads more.
If you have any interest in club music’s origins it’s well worth a watch.
