Matthew Williamson's New Moves

We caught up with the ever multi-taking Matthew Williamson at his technicolour London Resort 13 presentation.
At his Mayfair store, the designer said he had just returned from a trip to Mexico City, where the extreme “hecticness” of its size (and his schedule!), left him rather lusting for a little Mykonos relaxation later in the summer.
However, what he did find in the Valley of Mexico, was what he hopes will be the inspiration for SS 14 (“too late for 2013 I’m afraid!"), at Frida Kahlo’s house, which he says remains exactly how she left it. Think cobalt blue for starters, rather than a literal homage.
Meantime, Williamson was also super passionate about the intricately beaded inkjet artwork he had just collaborated with artist Mat Collishaw on as part of the 'Britain Creates 2012: Fashion & Art Collusion'. The project has been curated by The British Fashion Council/Bazaar Fashion Arts Foundation, working with the Mayor of London and LOCOG to deliver a unique cultural program in the lead up to the Olympics.
The resulting exhibition, which unites nine of Britain’s best designers and artists, will be hosted at the V&A from the 6 – 29 July, 2012.
