Golden Plains

As summer draws to a close and we hang out our short shorts (or raincoats, if we're honest) to dry, the last of the summer festivals and really the best of them is around the corner.
Golden Plains, held in Meredith Victoria, is the younger sister of the world renowned Meredith Festival, but it's smaller and my favourite of the bunch.
My most memorable Golden Plains was when I relived my early music life (and THE band obsession) by watching The Vines side of stage after basking in the gypsy-vibes of Beirut and Sharon Jones the night before.
It was probably one of the best weekends I can remember.Suffice to say, there is always a surprise and the line up is always excellent, flawless in fact, thanks to the eye of the Meredith team. The food is also delicious (all of it, it is almost food-and-wine-festival-standard).
This year has one of the best line ups I can remember seeing. From Nile Rodgers and Chic, the godfather of disco to Bon Iver, the godfather of the Wisconsin woods, there's something for everyone.
The Black Lips (fresh off a producing gig with Mark Ronson) intermix with Wild Flag (the band famous for having Portlandia's Carrie Brownstein in it but actually are brilliant musicians) and First Aid Kit, who look like they've just stepped out of 1970s Sweden and sound like something from another world.
