Tour Diary: DAMPVAMP

Ariel, Kitty and Caroline of DAMPVAMP are not your cookie-cutter girl group. The trio from the inner heart of Sydney prefer to spin psychedelic webs of swampy blues than play poppy love songs, and often spellbind onlookers with their fusion of performance art and song. To celebrate their impending debut album: Pagan Vegas, the three headed off to the U.S of A to play shows across New York, LA and San Francisco including a performance at the infamous Burning Man festival.
Set within the dusty heat of the Black Rock Desert in Northern Nevada, Burning Man festival is an annual weeklong celebration of art, humanity and self-expression. For seven days the rules of modern society are left behind: money does not exist and attendees are asked to abide by the ten Burning Man principles built upon self-reliance and participation. A sea of campers in motor homes becomes a city of thriving creativity, where the unimaginable becomes a reality. Kitty described the week as a “surreal experience … you have to go to believe it is in fact real”.
Exclusively for RUSSH, DAMPVAMP have selected moments from their journey by RV to the site of Burning Man where whimsical art cars, temples and midnight rave parties were just some of the magical moments to be savoured. Seeing is believing.
