She’s the face of Dolce and Gabbana’s latest fragrance and our beauty muse in our April/May issue. We sat down with Kate King in Milan where she shared with us her must-have beauty products, her relaxation method of choice, and what she looks for in a signature scent.
Who are your icons?
I have a lot that differ in style because I think that’s the great thing about style is that one day you can be inspired by somebody really classic like Audrey Hepburn, and then I also love Kate Moss’ sort of cool, easy, relaxed street style. Those are two ideals that I tend to go for.
What is your favourite part about the new Dolce and Gabbana fragrance?
I love the bottle, it’s so chic and cute and I think there’s something really sweet about it but quite mature. I can see it sitting on my friends' counter and my mother’s counter and I think it’s really special. I also love the scent, they used white amaryllis which has never been used in a fragrance before, I think that’s really interesting and unique. Personally that’s what I look for in a scent, one that’s instantly recognised as mine and not confused for others.
How do you relax?
My favourite thing to do on a day off is watch films. I could stay inside with all the lights off and lots of popcorn and snacks, watching film after film.
What are your essential beauty products?
I love Cetaphil face wash, that’s my go-to, just really basic. I have a Clarisonic that I really like. I also love anything rose, like rose seed oil on my face, rose lip balm and rose water toner. I don’t know why, I just feel like it works well on my skin but I also love the scent, it reminds me of my grandmother because she used it a lot. I like to keep things really simple so during the day I won’t wear any makeup, but at night I like to mix it up and wear lots of mascara. I just got Dolce and Gabbana’s Passion Eyes mascara, which is my favourite right now.
