Jo Wood

It’s 5pm on Friday and Jo Wood has just moved house. Sat in her new, albeit completely empty, abode, she took time out to chat to me about her love of organics and her Jo Wood Organics skincare range.
In your well-travelled experience, where is the most organically savvy place in the world?
LA. It’s where I first found an organic supermarket! America’s
good in general because there’s a Whole Foods Market in most places but Europe’s more difficult. I found Germany to be good though. In your opinion, what’s the best organic ...
Café? Daylesford Organics.
Restaurant? The River Café in Hammersmith or Petersham Nurseries in Richmond
Spa? The Six Senses Spa in Thailand (they don’t use plastic at all and their treatments are fantastic!)
Shop? Daylesford Organics again. Or any vintage shop!
What was the motivation for creating your own range?
It began when I got ill. I became obsessed with everything organic. I couldn’t find beautiful organic products. A lot of what seemed to be on the market at the time was hippyish.
How long did it take from the initial idea until you had the finished products?
Two years in total from start to finish.
Personal favourite product from your range?
The salt scrub. I use it every day.
And finally … what do you love about Australia?
My daughter lives in Sydney at the minute as she’s married to an Australian man! I’m going to visit her later in the year and Darling Point, where she lives, looks like it’s beautiful so I can’t wait to see it! Last time I was in Australia I had a Croc burger. I thought … it must be organic … right?
