RUSSH looks back to Australian Fashion Week 1996. What is it about these Sydney girls and their glow? Beauty therapist, model and presenter Amy Erbacher offers us some skincare tips to make it through a long hot summer.
RUSSH: What is your best advice for surviving an Australian summer?
Erbacher: It's pretty simple. Hydrate your body and your skin: drink lots of water; one litre a day will flush out toxins. You must moisturise: use a lightweight zinc that has the two-for-one benefits of a moisturiser as well as protecting you from the harsh Australian UV rays. Always opt for one that is nano-free.Quick fixes?
If your skin is feeling a little parched, buy a rosewater or orange blossom facial mist to instantly revitalise and hydrate your face. Keep it by your computer as a way to refresh yourself out of the mid-afternoon haze. Regular professional facials are key to fighting free-radical damage and everyday stresses. Depending on your skin condition, select a hydrating or deep cleansing facial that include extractions, to help keep clogged pores at bay. What about taking care of your hair?
Swimming in chlorinated and salt water can take its toll on hair, so apply a hydrating mask once a week 15 minutes before you have a shower.
