She’s The One
It’s one of the most influential positions in the fashion industry and one that former Chairman Sir Harold Tillman used to his greatest advantage for five consecutive years, reinvigorating the British fashion industry and in particular and most recently, London Fashion Week’s on-schedule shows and a venue change to London’s iconic Somerset House. One of fashion’s most revered entrepreneurs, Natalie Massenet of the Net-A-Porter Group, has been named as Tillman’s successor in an exciting decision that will no doubt see the BFC move into the future as a fashion heavyweight once more. Massenet’s reputation as championing emerging British talent and her relationship with the luxury houses partnered with her incredible foresight in a global digital market make her the perfect canditate to take the reigns in 2013. This tops two years of consecutive awards and recognition from her 2011 MBE for services to the fashion industry to WIRED Magazine’s 20th placing in WIRED 100 (Britain’s top 100 digital ‘power players’). “Not only do we have some of the best creative talent based in London but there are also great British designers working in some of the most high profile luxury design houses in the world. We also have the best understanding of what our industry contributes to the UK economy and what a significant player the British fashion industry is and can continue to be,” Massenet said of her appointment yesterday.
