MBFWA: Ellery SS 13
On the show notes, it was proclaimed that this collection was a homage to the designer’s long-lost teddy bear called Delicatessen. But never fear, no furry pieces made an appearance (little ear headbands seemed to be the main reference). Instead, classic Ellery cuts, with plays on proportion came down the runway. There was a focus on shoulder detail, but not just a padded shape – rounded curves were sewn into the fabrics, a new shape in the Ellery milieu. The fabrics included waffle cotton, thick silks and detailed embellishments. A beautiful black and white hand-drawn print in silk was a highlight and reflects Ellery’s recent focus on unique and quality prints, features and fabrics. It was a well-considered and beautiful collection.
