How We Met: Jedda-Daisy Culley & Dan Stricker
Artist / Designer, Desert Designs
It’s not so much about the time I met Dan as it is about the time I decided to open my eyes to see what was standing in front of me. I was silly and caught up in myself; looking back I feel dizzy with sunshine, swimming, planting flowers and painting. I was never looking for a relationship, I just wanted to be me in my little universe. But this long-haired guy with pretty special turquoise-blue eyes kept hanging around my house. I thought he was just there for the people and parties, but when I took the time to see, I saw he was standing there for me. And that was that. We never played it by the book; it’s always been our own way. But now we have a beautiful family by the sea, all dizzy with sunshine and swimming together. And a couple extra pairs of those turquoise-blue eyes.

She was a myth. I’d never met this free-spirited girl whose name was always whispered in the wind. Finally I came across a ramshackle house full of flowers, animals and sunshine and I was hooked. We danced one night at the Opera House, tumbling through crowds of people as if we were the only people in existence – I sat patiently in the wings until one day I melted in her eyes.
