You Are Not Alone
Loneliness can be a curse and the cure. To Henry Rollins it is beauty, just the thing to make a "special burn in sunsets" and "the night air smell better". There can be all kinds of lonely but the talking point of this story is the sort we keep close to our chest: Lonely lingerie.
It's the lace we hide beneath a tee, laze in while couch surfing or (for the bold) show off with our boyfriend jeans and dungarees. It doesn't always have to be, but for us it is forever Lonely. The lingerie that is a permanent on our wish list. We'd like to think this is our secret but in reality we are not just the only Lonely die hards. In fact, as of late, photographer/all-round radical Zara Mirkin has made it a hobby of sorts to document the Lonely Girls worldwide for the label's refurbished addition to web space - lonelyheartslabel.com.
"No barriers or boundaries" was the brief the Lonely crew told Mirkin but the photos speak for themselves. In bedrooms listening to records like Acid King and Dead Moon, sitting on porches sipping tea and just in general hanging out in their personal space is Mirkin's only way. Here's our special taste of what's to come on the newfangled site. Shoot from the hip and let the lace times roll.
