"I can't go back to yesterday because I was a different person then." - Alice in Wonderland

Some things change you, even something as small as a day trip away from the paved roads and street lights. They remind you of something you lost in your everyday; even if it's just to open your eyes that little bit wider.

Just as we were set to the close the office last year, these shots found their way into our inbox. Insight let photographer Renee Carey loose and she led her team - literally - down a seven-foot hole.

Carey shares a little more from behind the scenes:

"The day of the shoot I woke up with the sun coming through the trees into my bedroom, I could already feel the day was going to be fun before I even got out of bed to get my camera gear ready. Laura May, who styled the shoot, and I collaborated to come up with the story. We wanted it to have a very free vibe to it, yet still have a strong energy. It was mainly focused around the girl, coming back to the self through nature and the elements. To be drenched in sun, and surrounded by flowers, water, and other things of the earth. I was excited when Laura May asked if we could shoot my sister-in-law Shenay, who being part Aboriginal, was perfectly suited for this shoot.

"We stumbled upon some amazing spots throughout the day around North Narrabeen and Frenchs Forest. One being this seven-foot hole in the ground we adventured down, to find this magical little waterfall facing a massive canyon. It was beyond beautiful. We took ideas as they came to us, and worked around what we felt at that moment. The day ended down by the lake with a warm breeze on our skin at sunset. We just stayed there for about an hour after we finished our last look, immersed by the beauty of the day."
