Photographer Anne Deniau tenderly revisits her time with the late British designer in her new book Love Looks Not With the Eyes: Thirteen Years With Lee Alexander McQueen (Abrams). A compilation of 400 behind the scenes images from his early beginnings at Givenchy in 1997 through to the days of the self-titled empire he lived and breathed.

Deniau was one of the rare souls entrusted with a camera within McQueen's circle, a man never fond of the act in having his picture taken. But, as Deniau once told, "When he gave you his interest, it was heavy. It was engraved." This poetry is just what was caught in a flash - now for the world to see.
