Little Black Jacket

Actresses Astrid Bergès-Frisbey and Anna Mouglalis spoke to RUSSH just before Chanel’s Little Black Jacket exhibition launched in Sydney last night, sharing their experiences on set with Karl Lagerfeld.
Astrid on her picture
“I remember I saw Carine (Roitfeld) and she told me ‘Right … We’re going to find you something … Pick a hat, which hat do you like?’ and we started with this hat and she said ‘OK we are going to do with you a very British style,’ and I like my picture because it reminds me of you know the Redskins style from the very, very beginning … And then for the makeup somebody said ‘ah you know how about a star on the eyes’ like Ziggy Stardust…“
Her favourite portrait
“I remember looking over and seeing Cécile Cassel and I was like 'Oh my God – her picture is so incredible – she had like Marilyn Monroe hair and she had a bra or corset' … And I know her … it was so incredible.”Karl Lagerfeld
“Karl, he makes you very comfortable when you work with him ... It’s very important to him that you are happy, comfortable and that you’re having fun…”
Anna on Karl Lagerfeld
"Karl creates something very special on every single shoot. He changed totally my perspective on being photographed. When I was younger, I modelled for a few years, but I was a bad model, it was a disaster and I hated it because I felt I had to try to be beautiful or to try to be cute – and I have never been cute. When I met with Karl it was the opposite, he didn’t want me to pretend. He has that very special way to look at you and he wants the most special thing about you. He doesn’t want you to look like someone else or to be an image of beauty that everybody could recognise. What he likes is to take the angle of your face that is the most special – so, he helps you become yourself.
"His charisma is everything … If you just let yourself go, you’re just the same."
The Little Black Jacket
"It’s iconic and the essence of Chanel. She’s the one who invented the suit ... She’s the one that freed the women from the corset…"
Her favourite portrait
"I love Freya. She has something really special in photography but in life to. She is dressed as a nun … I love the detail of the stockings."
The Little Black Jacket will exhibit at Pier 2/3, 13 Hickson Road Road, Walsh Bay, Sydney from 27 October - 11 November.RUSSH SHARES A SNEAK PEEK OF THE LITTLE BLACK JACKETS EXHIBITION HERE
