Behind the Scenes: Press Check Issue 48

"Is that something you'd wear to a nightclub or to the beach?"This is the question our man on the print room floor asked when he saw a look from our Bambi shoot. Wherever you want, I told him.
"Fair enough."
This press check began with a 1am call time and saw us read High Fidelity in full (again).
We talked about early morning surfs at Dee Why as - section by section - we checked off Kit Willow's fashion album, Proenza's Japanese story and David Jones ambassador Miranda Kerr in an AC/DC shirt ("I used to have one kind of like it").
To borrow phrase of Nick Hornby's, this whole printing thing is "routinely transcendental". Here, you see eight weeks-plus worth of work right there - forever and always - unable to be removed or altered (short of etching off a page number gone astray). There's no turning back now.
And why would we want to? We're on the home stretch.
Here you go: Issue 48.
