Recently the Strand Arcade has served us up with far more than we can chew of Indian delights. This time they give us model Nicole Pollard on the ground in Jaipur - dressed in only our Australian best (LOVER, Lisa Ho, Manning Cartell and some).
Ancient palaces and harlequin saris rushing through the street. The Beatles went to that place and found the Maharishi, now Nicole retraces her footsteps and gives us some insight for our travels:
What was the highlight of your Indian trip?
I loved staying at the Neemrana Fort-Palace and getting to explore the Neemrana village below. Shooting the Strand Arcade campaign was also so much fun - one of the kids and her grandmother put their pet mouse on my shoulder whilst shooting and on the drive from Delhi to Neemrana we passed the time seeing who could kill the most mosquitoes in the van!
Where are your five must see spots in India?
The town of Neemrana is a definite must see, and the Kashmir Loom Company is also great – all handmade and embroidered cashmere scarves.
What did you love most about the culture?
Everyone was so friendly and helpful. I loved seeing the kids in the village just running between houses, they were so happy and playful.
Best purchase in India?
The two cashmere scarves I bought for my mum from the Kashmir Loom Company, which we now share!
What are five things you can't forget to pack when travelling to the East?
Loose, light weight clothing, Aeroguard, a camera and sunglasses.SEE LOUISE VAN DE VORST STAR IN THE STRAND ARCADE'S INDIAN INSPIRED EXHIBITION
