Made of Stone

"No earth, just sky it's so surreal
Your pink fat lips let go a scream
You fry and melt I love the scene…"
- The Stone Roses, Made of Stone
The senses are a funny thing. One vision, one smell, one song can bring back such a blur of all that sweet stuff that once was and is now gone. Photographer Dennis Morris has that power to take you there - to warp you back in time - even to a place your eyes may have never seen. Somewhere you think you've visited (but only in dreams).
He was the guy who hung with the Stone Roses before anyone knew their name. Jammed with English lad Ian Brown late into the night and watched them - really looked deep into their stage souls before his camera ever made a flash.
Even now their record still spins and it sounds like the present. Just like "in a similar way," he says of those frozen moments on film, "these images, haven't aged at all." Over 250 photographs that he kept to himself. Memories that have almost never been seen. All bound on silken paper. This is how This Is The One came to be.
