PFW: Yves Saint Laurent

They say that true goodbyes are the ones that are never explained and this is just how things played out for Stefano Pilati in his final collection for YSL. Who knows if he knew it would be so but there was something in the discipline of this execution that hints at a certain level of seriousness. He was inspired by calla lilies (a roman symbol of lust) and here it bought out darkness, sharpness and urgency through leather, precision tailoring and a focus on the waist. Desire can be a double-edged sword – beautiful but also tragic – and never more so was this true than here. He made his last bow in a double-breasted suit with a smile.SEE WHAT WE SAW: FRONT ROW AT PARIS FASHION WEEK
