LFW: Modern Times with Richard Nicoll

With a new backer on board, Richard Nicoll's future is looking as bright as AW's hazard orange, safety yellow, powder blue and electric navy colour palette. With clean, minimalist lines from utilitarian work wear beginnings, the entirely colour-coded collection paired sleek leather and wool tailoring with classic knits and a rather stella all-in-one electric blue jumpsuit. Essentially, we want all of it – modern, effortless, chic.Forsaking the usual runway show, this season Nicoll opted to instead take us inside the fashion week process as we caught him and his team mid-way through shooting the season’s look-book - set up as an installation. Walking around the warehouse space you circled a model strewn runway, photographer set up, hair and makeup station and the backstage dressing area; all being acted out in real time. The models even wore iPod earpieces so they could hear the photographer's direction. This was the perfect two-in-one recession busting show.
