LFW: Clements Ribeiro AW 12

Remember design duo Clements Ribeiro? I still cling to a mint-hued blouse that I bought the first time around. Before they decamped to Cacharel that is ... For which I again obsessively awaited each new Parlour X shipment from the city of lights. One Paris motif red, white and blue striped t-shirt dress saw more summers than it could endure. Speed-forward to Clements Ribeiro’s ready-to-wear relaunch in 2004, and today we’re welcomed back into designers Suzanne Clements and Inacio Ribeiro’s perfectly printed fold.
The setting is London’s magnificent Goldsmiths’ Hall, opened in 1835, and still just as decadent as its day. Oversized crystal chandeliers captivate from above, as stained glass windows displaying crests from times forgotten, filter the morning sun.
On the runway, under the watchful eye of enormous gilt portraits, folksy scarf printed smock dresses reflect the stained glass window’s colour wheel, clashing at will with calf length plaid skirts. Then continuing the nostalgic theme, retro patterned jumpers (of cobalt blue, maroon, purple and sage colour-blocked triangles) were toughed up with voluminous
leather trousers, as Mod coats completed the
largely checked collection. SEE PREEN'S AW 12 COLLECTION AT LONDON FASHION WEEK
