The Good Oil
Coconut oil. It's suddenly on the list as a beauty must have, so we asked Teisha Lowry, founder of INDAH, 10 things she loves about coconut oil. But remember, make sure you find an extra virgin coconut oil - free from chemically processing and added preservatives.
1. Daily ritual
Take up to three tablespoons daily for internal health and wellbeing and to give energy.
2. Makeup remover
Oil can break through oil so I smother it over my face and let it soak for about 15 minutes and then wash off.
3. Body polish
Add some flaxseeds to create a body polish, perfect for moisturising while buffing skin.
4. Eye cream
The skin under the eyes has less sebum production than the rest of the face, that's why I like to use extra virgin coconut oil as it helps wrinkles.
5. After sun
Drench into thirsty skin after a day at the beach, it settles inflammation and redness. Perfect way to rehydrate.
Medicated creams can burn the skin and can only provide temporary relief. Mix a bit of crushed garlic and extra virgin coconut oil to prevent acne and improve texture.
If you chew the skin around your fingernails, put a big dollop of the oil on the affected area and leave overnight, it's amazing what just one treatment can do.
I always carry a little pot of oil with me to keep those flyaways in place.
9. Beauty sleep
Apply more than usual to face before bed for intense repair.
10. Tea and Coffee
Put a teaspoon of coconut oil in your tea and coffee instead of sugar to naturally sweeten.
