Pare It Back
If you feel Easter celebrations took hold before you managed to action your game plan last weekend, then perhaps use the next few days to pare things back a little. Cleanse with me …
Flush the body with warm water and the juice of half a lemon to alkalise and reboot. If you haven’t already stocked them in the fridge, probiotics will serve your digestive system well whilst you commence a cleanse and beyond. Probiotics ensure there is an abundance of healthy microflora to maintain gut integrity and improve the absorption of nutrients.
Water, herbal teas and fermented drinks such as kombucha will be your go-to for a cleanse. Leave the coffee and tea for another day (or maybe eliminate for good) and focus on giving your body hydration and fluids to support your health. Green juices as snacks between meals are a great option to up the minerals, vitamins and water from vegetables too.
Fill your diet with beautiful clean quality proteins (fish, chicken, lean meat, legumes) with an abundance of leafy green and cruciferous vegetables (cauliflower, kale, brussel sprouts, broccoli) to support liver detox pathways and healthy fats (avocado, olive oil, nuts, seeds) to balance hormones and satiate hunger. Leave starchy carbohydrates (wheat, pastas, potatoes, grains such as oats, spelt and rice at this time) and sugars including fruit aside for these few days and tune into the changes your body makes as you refresh your health.
