Music /Yolanda Be Cool
Theirs is kind of name you want inked on your arm, the kind you make every effort to work into everyday conversation with people you want to like you. You know them; they’re the once-upon-a-time Bondi Beach locals who No Speak Americano and who have taken the world’s dance floors hostage. We catch up with Yolanda Be Cool.
What is the best thing about doing what you do?
Getting paid to make and play music is easily the best thing. We would do it for free, so to make a living out of it, not to mention, to get to do it all over the world, would be pretty rude if w didn't say we feel like we are living the dream.
What are you completely obsessed with right now?
Music. We thought finishing our album would ease this obsession, but alas...
How did you get to be where you're at today?
Mismanagement. Ha, no. No, guess we have had a combination of luck, perseverance and a bit of talent. We pretty much spend all day working on music, so perhaps throw in some hard work.
When was the first moment you thought 'sh*t, we're actually doing this'?
When we got a spare passport, to help us travel while organising visas for other travels, guess that was a pretty good sign.
Why must Yolanda be cool?
Because she is in grave danger of being shot in the face by a very angry Samuel L Jackson.
What's next for you two?
We are just organising who is releasing our album outside Australia (which is very exciting) and then touring round the country for the summer to help promote the release, which will take us up to Miami in march where we will be having our Ladies and Mentalmen boat party at the Winter Music Conference.WHY PULP FICTION MOULDED OUR GREATEST HITS ISSUE: READ THE EDITOR'S LETTER HERE
